Stem Cell Therapy

Regenerative medicine is one of the most innovative and cutting-edge fields in the industry, and it offers patients ways to utilize their body’s own healing process to relieve pain, heal injuries, and restore function. One of the most promising types of regenerative medicine is stem cell therapy, which uses the body’s stem cells to support and accelerate the healing of damaged tissue, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and bone. Research is ongoing to better understand and utilize this treatment; however, for patients with chronic knee, neck, or back pain, stem cell treatment has proven to be an effective way to provide pain relief and restore function.

WHAT IS STEM CELL THERAPY

Stem cells are the body’s undifferentiated cells that can regenerate or become cells with specialized functions. They are essentially the building blocks of all human tissue and the raw materials that become cells with specialized functions. Stem cells are such a promising component of regenerative medicine because undifferentiated stem cells can be guided into becoming specific cells that are needed to help repair damaged or diseased tissue.

During stem cell treatment, stem cells are first harvested from either bone marrow or fat. These cells are then injected into the injured joint, ligament, or tendon in order to begin rejuvenating, healing, or strengthening that area. Because this treatment triggers and facilitates the body’s natural healing process, it generally takes two to three weeks before results are felt, and for most injuries, it takes around three months before the body has completed the healing process.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER STEM CELL THERAPY

For many patients suffering from chronic back pain or looking for neck and shoulder pain relief, stem cell therapy is an option that should be explored. For patients with osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, shoulder, or ankle joint, stem cell treatments have worked to provide pain relief and increase function. Additionally, patients with chronic tendon injuries, torn muscles, or torn cartilage often benefit from stem cell therapy.

At his Encino,California office, Dr. Glaser has experience conducting stem cell therapy for knees and knee pain with good results. Additionally, he has found this treatment to be effective for patients with back problems, including those with degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, spinal facet pain, or pinched nerves.
Stem cell therapy is a minimally invasive, non-surgical, long-term solution for many patients suffering from back, neck, or joint pain. Further, it’s a natural way to provide pain relief, decrease inflammation, and increase functionality and range of motion.
