Dr. Kim

Dr. John Kim is an interventional spine and pain management physician at Glaser Pain Relief Center in Encino, California, where he specializes in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of spine and musculoskeletal pain disorders. His clinical focus is the diagnosis and management of complex spinal conditions affecting the neck, back, and extremities, with an emphasis on restoring function and improving quality of life through individualized, evidence-based care.

Dr. Kim earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in New York City. He subsequently completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers. During this training he gained extensive experience in the evaluation and management of complex neurologic and musculoskeletal conditions, which ultimately led him to pursue subspecialty training in pain medicine.

He completed a Pain Medicine fellowship at Loma Linda University, where he received advanced training in the diagnosis and interventional management of spine-related pain conditions.

Dr. Kim is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is board-eligible in Pain Medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology.

His practice focuses on the treatment of spine-mediated pain disorders, including herniated discs, cervical and lumbar radiculopathy (sciatica), spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, facet joint arthritis, vertebral compression fractures, and failed back surgery syndrome. He also treats complex chronic pain conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, migraines, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and degenerative joint disorders.

Dr. Kim utilizes a comprehensive approach to care that integrates careful diagnostic evaluation, targeted rehabilitation strategies, and when appropriate, advanced image-guided minimally invasive spine procedures designed to precisely address the underlying source of pain. These procedures may include epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks and radiofrequency ablation for facet-mediated pain, vertebral augmentation procedures such as kyphoplasty for compression fractures, basivertebral nerve ablation for vertebrogenic low back pain, spinal cord stimulation for chronic neuropathic pain, and peripheral nerve stimulation, among other modern interventional treatments.
